20th May 2009 – Wordsnake update

We are pleased to announce that Wordsnake, the number 1 brain training game, will be coming to the Apple iPhone and the Google Android platform.

The current Java phone version has been temporarily withdrawn to allow updates to bring it into line with some of the developments in the new versions on other platforms.

As the publishing deal with Alten8 was terminated by Pixel Magick, a release date is still to be fixed for the release of the latest version, whilst we arrange a new publishing/distribution deal.

Keep checking back for more updates.

20th April 2009 - Digital Goldfish Ltd pay settlement.

Today the legal case against Digital Goldfish Ltd, the Dundee based iPhone and mobile phone game developer, brought by Mr Greenberg, in which it was alleged that he had suffered a loss of income due to alleged modifications made by Digital Goldfish Ltd to software written by Mr Greenberg, which only Mr Greenberg could have carried out without infringements to his intellectual property rights, and in violation of the legally binding agreement between both parties prohibiting reverse-engineering of the software supplied by Mr Greenberg, was dismissed after the defendants agreed to pay a settlement to Mr Greenberg on the day of the court hearing to resolve the matter, without admitting liability and prior to any evidence being heard.

This is the 2nd occasion on which Mr Greenberg has felt it necessary to take legal action against Digital Goldfish Ltd. The 1st action, over a refusal to pay any royalties to Mr Greenberg as set out in the legally binding agreement between both parties, was settled out-of-court, after Digital Goldfish Ltd. agreed to settle the claim a matter of days before the evidence in that case was due to be heard in court.

Mr Greenberg commented "My personal experience of dealing with Digital Goldfish Ltd has been that after the work I was contracted to do had been delivered, legal action was the only way to enforce the terms of the legally binding agreement I have with Digital Goldfish Ltd, even for something as straightforward as a royalty payment.”

He went on to say “As we had all been students together, and I believed that we were all friends, I would have expected to be treated at least on a par with anyone else they do business with, if not better. Needless to say, any friendship, if it had ever indeed been genuine, has now, most certainly, been lost.”

20th April 2007 - Wordsnake goes multi-format

Pixel Magick are pleased to announce it has signed a deal with Alten8 to bring Pixel Magick’s best selling mobile phone game, Wordsnake, to the Nintendo DS, Nintendo Wii and PC.

Pixel Magick will be working closely with Alten8 to ensure all the playability and addictiveness of the original are preserved in this new version which will feature several improvements and new features.

David Greenberg, from Pixel Magick, said “We are very please that Alten8 will be bringing this game to a wider audience and the DS version, with its use of the two displays and touch screen, makes good use of the hardware and is looking especially promising.”

About the Game.
In Wordsnake, the aim of the game is to build words of 3-8 letters from the random selection on the tile rack, and reach a target score before the time runs out.

Each new word is placed on the board from an existing letter tile, forming snake like structures, which means the words must begin or end with the existing letter. Subsequent tiles will disappear after a set time, which means the player must form new words to keep the snake alive and invalid words will reduce the players score.

New features include the ability to randomly shuffle letters and move letters to a second tile rack to help with word construction. Special tiles let the player gain extra lives, decrease/increase remaining level time.

As the player progresses to each new level, they will have less time to complete the level, the target score will increase, and extra walls will appear that restrict the playable area.

27/02/2007 - Digital Goldfish Ltd. settle out-of-court

We are pleased to confirm that an out-of-court settlement from Digital Goldfish Ltd. for overdue royalties has been paid, including interest and expenses, and that the case against Digital Goldfish Ltd. is being dismissed.

We have made this news public for 2 reasons:-

1. Out of fairness to Digital Goldfish Ltd, so nobody is left with the impression that the debt is still due.

2. To ensure that any other current or potential business partners are aware that we will pursue any unpaid debts as far as necessary and for as long as it takes, and recover all monies possible in such cases. This will inevitably cost more than paying the original debt; over 150% of the original debt in our experience, and not including any additional legal fees incurred by the debtor.
