Overview

The aim of the game is to build words from random letters and reach a target score before the time runs out.

The game starts with a randomly changing letter tile that you have to select to give the best chance of forming words. This tile becomes the base tile and remains on the board for the whole level.

You can only play from an existing letter tile, which means the word must begin or end with the existing letter.

The words must be a minimum of 3 letters long and a maximum of 8 letters long (maximum of 7 letters long in DS & ME (Mobile Edition)).

New words cannot start from a tile where there are 2 or more adjacent letter tiles.

You do not have to play from the last letter placed on the board. You can play from any valid letter, creating a multi-headed Wordsnake.

Subsequent letter tiles will disappear after a set time, which means you must form new words to keep the snake alive. Tiles that are due to disappear will flash first to give you advance warning. If all the non-base tiles disappear the snake will die and you will lose a life and be returned to the base tile.

You will lose points for unrecognised words.

You can play onto special tiles which do the following:-

 - Extra life    (a Wordsnake character waving his hands)

 - Decrease remaining level time (a red clock)

 - Increase remaining level time (a green clock)

As you progresses to each new level the timer will decrease faster, the target will increase and extra walls will appear that restrict the playable area.
